Lily B loves life! I am Lily B (now for writer’s sake Lil G) . I love books! I grew up looking for the next book to come home with Dad. He worked for Golden Press. He seemed to bring books home rather frequently! I started “my” creative journey in the 4th grade singing “50 NIFTY UNITED STATES”. You might laugh at this, but seriously, we all start somewhere. From that point on I enjoyed all the singing and stage opportunities my school could provide. “YOU, ME, AND THEM TOO” (1973) was produced and written by the students of JAMES W. ROBINSON High School in Northern Virginia. The production was written by and for the students. My love for writing, singing and acting had begun. The success of the show took us to the stage of Wolf Trap Farm Park where my creative life had truly begun. 

I mention these things to spark a thought. "Mom, don’t downplay your kiddo’s dreams, talents and skills." Eventually we all find our voice, our niche. One day everything begins to converge as we recognize the hand of providence. 

While attending George Mason University I became a Christ follower, and my life took on a devoted and wonderful path. Opportunities to enjoy writing, singing and acting kept coming. Upon graduation my career in hospitality with Marriott Corporation brought me much joy and a move to Virginia Beach. 

I settled into the Virginia Beach area to work at the newly opened Founders Inn and Conference Center. I met my precious husband, Chris. And the rest is history. To say that raising a large family was the dream job may seem like an exaggeration, but seriously, if you can make it past the challenging years, you may end up with some delightful young adults! I did. 

Currently I am a substitute teacher, joyfully working in two elementary schools, one of which is a private school; the other a public school, where I tutor first grade reading skills with the Life Enrichment Center. 

Launching into the publishing world is both a joy and a task. Is it worth it? Only time will tell. What time is it? Time to begin. I have PAGE ON THE LOOSE. The pages keep coming. 

I’ve renamed myself Lil G. I did this to better enter my STORY LAND. This is a land I’m currently creating with my friend Carolyn, Daniella and daughter Rebekah. They are my team. 

I am a wife, a mom of 5 amazing kids and a wonderful son-in law. Odin, our puppy, is our newest family member. I am also a Studio Center Voiceover artist where drama and voice opportunities continue to come. 

After 40+ years of accumulating life experience, I’ve gathered up my journals, books, and random inspirations and stacked them in the corner. Seriously, I did. WHY? Well, to see if this simple act would motivate me to DO something creative, like publish a book or something.

“Stacked, packed, and stuck” is the phrase I’ve declared for those of us that have not moved forward. I laugh about it now…. 

This is what happens to moms while raising our wonderful kids. We forget that we have some gifts, talents, and dreams somewhere. Please don’t leave them there, brush them off and let them loose. 

I hope to see you my creative friend, out there somewhere, reading, writing, acting - perhaps all three.
